Bayne, Founder and President:
Bayne brings over 30 years of experience in the printing industry
in both production and management at several newspapers, web and
sheet-fed plants, color trade shops, as well as with a national
supply company.
With hands-on experience in graphic production, prepress production,
installation, and training, Bayne brings a unique combination of
experience to his work. Bayne set-up and managed the electronic
publishing and pre-press functions for The Emporium (a Northwest
retail chain) and successfully eliminated all outside pre-press
costs including color separations.
Bayne co-founded the Pacific Northwest Color Management User's Group.
He is considered an expert by the printing industry on production
workflow and color management. He was one of the first printing
professionals to be trained as a GRACoL® Expert and can train
GRACoL MasterPrinters™.
In 1993, Bayne started consulting for a national graphics arts
reseller and in 1995 went into business for himself as a prepress
consultant and trainer. His consulting business grew and Alder Technology
was incorporated in 1999.
Bayne focuses his consulting efforts on specialized prepress application
training, system integration, digital color production, PDF workflow,
and process control management. His goal is to provide a service
to clients that improves their bottom line and makes their daily
operations more effective.
Kevin
Wilson is Alder’s Color Specialist in our Portland
office. Wilson works with color managed proofing systems and provides
technical support & systems integration.
Wilson has 24 years of experience. He started as a Computer Systems
Engineering Technician with the US Air Force, where he helped design,
install, maintain and train on Large/mini-frame and PC computers.
Wilson started working in the Graphics Industry in 1993 and he has
worked as an Information Systems Manager for ArtLab Europe, an international
design studio specializing in visual and cross cultural communications
solutions, located in Altensteig Germany. While at ArtLab Europe,
He was part of the creative team and worked with the production
department. He also helped establish the School of Digital Communications
at Media Village in Altensteig and worked with the Vienna, Austria
based Eastern European Training Institute teaching Design and Prepress
workflows in Ukraine, Russia and Romania.
John
Horn is Alder’s Color Specialist in our California
branch. Horn provides training on printing, workflows and color
management. He is certified by Gretag Macbeth to train on their
products and create ICC profiles. He is also certified by EFI/Best,
Onyx, Absolute Proof, and ColorBurst to install and train on their
RIPs.
Horn has been working in the color printing industry for over 30 years and began his career working in pre-press trade shops as a scanner operator. He later managed several color departments and trade shops in southern California.
At the beginning of the DTP revolution Horn took his color expertise
to one of the first software companies making products for scanning
and color manipulation. He was the Product Manager for the first
desktop CMYK correction software. (Before CMYK Photoshop).
As the V.P. of Product Development for one of the first RIP companies providing proofing solutions on inkjet printers, Horn helped create award-winning products that helped push inkjet printing to the level it is at today.
Horn has been a speaker for the APA, ASMP, FTA, IPA and other institutions
on color control and printing.
